Dr. Ruterbusch brings to CHP a distinguished background in child and adolescent psychiatry, strengthened by an illustrious 30-year career in the U.S. Navy. As the psychiatrist for Polinsky Children’s Center and San Diego Juvenile Detention Facilities, he has honed specialized skills to support adolescents, particularly those lacking strong male role models, and achieved transformative outcomes.  

A highly accomplished leader, Dr. Ruterbusch has consistently delivered measurable results. His leadership includes guiding teams in Operational Psychiatry for specialized groups (Divers, Navy SEALs, and EOD) across domestic and global operations, and being elected by peers to serve as Chief of Staff at CMH, recognized as a unifying force who fosters collaboration among patients, Psychiatrists, MDs, Nurses, and support staff.  With extensive experience in evaluating and treating PTSD, mood disorders, anxiety disorders, and high-risk behaviors such as suicidal ideation and self-injury,

Dr. Ruterbusch has developed a comprehensive approach to mental health care. His academic foundation includes a degree in Physiological Psychiatry from Princeton University, a Doctor of Medicine from Wayne State University, a Navy Psychiatry Residency, and a Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship. Dr. Ruterbusch's expertise, integrity, and deep commitment to child and adolescent psychiatry make him a valuable addition to the CHP team and the communities we serve.
